Restoring a 1937 Ford Flat Bed Truck

The truck is a 1937 Ford flat-bed "farm truck" with a 85hp v8 engine in it. It has a longer wheelbase than the normal 1937 Ford pickup trucks. It also has dual rear tires on it. The engine and transmission are in running condition, and virtually all the parts on it are original. It has a "PTO" (power take-off) for running auxiliary equipment. The wheels are original to the truck, as it the box unit on back.

The plan is to restore the vehicle as a Finnish Army truck as used in Finland during the Winter War of 1939-1940. The vehicle is in fairly rough condition considering it has been used up until this year as a working farm truck. But, already we have gotten offers of support in the form of money, parts, labor, and advice from experts who have worked on these old trucks before.

We are pulling and rebuilding the engine in April of 2006 and restoring the interior this Spring

The truck as it sits before the wood and metal box was bolted onto the back frame.	The front end will need a lot of work. We can straighten the grill but one of the vanes is missing. We may rebuild the engine again and add new hoses, belts, seals, and gaskets.
After putting the box on the back. The wood planks of the box are original and need to be replaced.	The box needs to be rebuilt but Tero has all the plans and is providing the metal parts and fasteners for the truck bed.	Rear view. PTO can be seen in this picture. All the glass in the cab has to be replaced. The roof of the cab needs to be straightened out also.	Rear view. The frame is in excellent condition. Almost no rust or corrosion is evident on any of the parts.
